Parque Natural da Ria Formosa – Next to the Centro de Educação Ambiental de Marim (CEAM)
Our visit
We found this park by accident while trying to go to the animal hospital we could see on the map (RIAS – Centro de Recuperação e Investigação de Animais Selvagens). It costed us around 6 € in total to get in the park (3€ per adult and free for children), and took a bit less than 2 hours to do the recommended walk across the park (around 3 km), stopping at several view points to watch wild plants and animals – a booklet is provided at the entrance to make the experience a ‘treasure hunt’ of discovering the wildness. The animal hospital was a bit disappointing: while the young lady opening the door for us was very kind, it takes only 10 minutes to look around the small museum – while we of course understand it, there was no access to see the animals or better learn what the hospital was concretely doing. That being said, we were very satisfied with the walk in the natural park.
